Duration: 2 days
Learn to be the scuba diver everyone follows because you know where you are and where you’re going. We fine-tune your observation skills and teach you to more accurately use your compass underwater. If you like challenges with big rewards, navigating your way around complex coral reefs, finding your way in low visibility or even planning new routes then you’re going the right direction by choosing the underwater navigator course.
You’ll learn the tools of the trade, including navigation using natural clues and by following compass headings. In the course, you will learn: Methods to estimate distance underwater.
Compass navigation while making at least five turns. Marking or relocating a submerged object or position from the surface. Underwater map making and more.
Pick up your Underwater Navigation course materials before the course start and complete Underwater Navigator knowledge reviews. Pick up from Cape Town Hotels to the V&A Waterfront or meet at the dive shop at 8.30am to complete paperwork and review the knowledge reviews together with your instructor. Watch the Underwater Navigator video. Your PADI Instructor will conduct a detailed briefing of special dive considerations and a lecture of deep diving procedures before each dive. Receive exercises and fine tune your skills on the navigation dives. Back at the shop each day around 15h30.
