The PADI Advanced Open Water diving course helps build confidence and expand your scuba skills through different Adventure Dives, so you can start right after earning your PADI Open Water Diver certification.
When you enrol on the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course your required adventure dives are the 1) Underwater Navigation dive and 2) Deep adventure dive. During the Deep Adventure Dive, you learn how to plan dives to deal with the physiological effects and challenges of deeper scuba diving. The Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive refines your compass navigation skills and helps you better navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks and time.
The other three adventure dives can be chosen from the following list which are suitable for Cape Town waters:
Digital Underwater Photographer, Peak Performance Buoyancy (highly recommended), Boat Diver, Wreck Diver, Search & Recovery, Multilevel Diver, AWARE-Fish Identification.
Each Adventure Dive may credit towards the first dive of the corresponding PADI Specialty Diver Course.
Before Start Date - you will receive an online eLearning PADI Advanced Open Water Touch manual to complete your theory at home in your own time. All 5 knowledge reviews (chapters) is completed beforehand. This manual is yours to keep and to refer back to refresh your scuba diving knowledge at any time. Day 1 - Complete required paperwork and review the knowledge reviews with your instructor. After trying on your scuba equipment to ensure it fits comfortably you will head off to the open water where you will be conducting 3 x ocean dives.
Day 2 - You will head off to the open water again where you will be completing the last 2 x dives.
Back at the shop each day around 15h30 (varies with each course).
Prerequisites & Minimum Age
12 years old. Have a PADI Open Water certification (or a qualifying certification from another organization). Be in good physical health. Have logged dives within the last 12 months (Pool Refresher or ReActivate program available). Complete the necessary paperwork and acknowledge our Terms & Conditions.
Maximum of 4 students per instructor.
08h30 (Meet at the shop)
Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a PADI Advanced Open Water Certification (recognised worldwide). Dive to a maximum depth of 30m. Receive credit from each adventure dive completed towards a Specialty Course.
Tuition by an internationally certified PADI instructor.
Digital eLearning pack (Advanced Open Water Diver Touch - includes knowledge). eCard accessible via the PADI App.
Full equipment use.
5 x Adventure Dives.
MPA (Marine Protected Areas) permit.
